11 | Friday, April 17, 2015 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com The Pipes and Taps Pub Oakville's newest dining establishment, The Pipes and Taps Pub, has been a long-time dream of owners James and Tricia Stewart. The former owners of English Bay Fish and Chips, the pair continued their careers in the food and beverage industry he as executive chef of a private club in downtown Toronto and she as the manager of another Oakville pub. "Because we've worked in the industry we knew we could put a good product on the table," James says, adding that he and his wife had the goal of building a family-oriented pub that would also be the perfect place for sports teams to meet. As a family involved with the Oakville Minor Hockey Association the Stewarts know first-hand how difficult it can be to find a great family-oriented place to get together with teams of all ages. The Pipes and Taps both meets that need and fulfilled the Stewarts' long time dream with the pub opening in Mid-March. Tricia's is the face you'll recognize most at the pub as she handles the day-to-day operations. And their daughter, Robyn, also works there. Advertorial Wanting to convey the British feel of the pub in its name, James came up with The Pipes and Taps name, combining the British love of bagpipes and draught taps. It's a fitting name as a set of bagpipes hang on the wall and 22 beers are served on tap. But there's also more than 10 TVs throughout the pub, providing a great place to watch an assortment of sporting events. "And we've set up one TV with a Play Station for the kids to play while their parents eat." It's a recipe that's proved successful. The Pipes and Taps menu, designed by the Stewarts together with executive chef Troy Diaz, has also been a success. Formerly of Glen Abbey Golf Club, Diaz is Red Seal certified chef and he and his kitchen brigade serve the upscale pub fare for lunch, starting at 11 a.m. and dinner, daily. A kids' menu is also available for the younger crowd. On Saturday evenings the pub plays host to live entertainment while Wednesdays are trivia night at the Oak Park pub. On these nights, and the rest of the week, sports teams from the many local fields and arenas that are within walking distance of The Pipes and Taps Pub owners Tricia and James Stewart are joined by executive chef, Troy Diaz, at the Oak Park Boulevard pub. the pub are encouraged to pop by for drinks and munchies either inside our out on the patio come May when the weather warms up.
