Six winning ventures will move on to Summer Company continued from p.3 e-waste, it's preventing it from going into landfills," he said. "In landfills, the toxic materials can go into the earth and mess up our waterways." Moll said his business will focus on getting its message out to teenagers, using young people as its target market. "We are the ones who are going to live in the world of the future, we're the next generation," he said. "So, we want to create a green environment so that we can live longer and we can provide a good environment for our kids." As a way of reaching out to other students, he is looking into holding e-waste drives at area high schools. Though the e-waste is to be recycled, the 16-year-old sees his company as more of a middleman, getting the e-waste from the homes into the hands of the recyclers. Moll said while the main priority of his venture is environmental protection, he does have a few revenue-generating ideas. Often, e-waste contains people's personal information. Moll said Excalibur could offer an extra service, for a fee, to remove that information from devices. Moll said there are a number of different directions in which his company could go. He's also toying with the idea of setting up a not-for-profit venture that could refurbish used electronics and then give them away to young people who are in need. "That's what's great about being young and starting your own business," he said. "You don't have as much pressure and there are many ways that I can go with this." Six winners will be selected from the finalists and will be recognized at an award ceremony. Winners will receive reserved entry into the Province of Ontario's Summer Company program, which includes an award of up to $3,000; a $750 education voucher and more.
