The Red Devils are the best in Ontario By Bryan Vines S P E C IA L T O T H E BEAVER The Oakville Trafalgar Red Devils felt right from the beginning of the volleyball season that this was going to be their year. They lived up to their high expectations by winning the O ntario Federation o f School Athletic Association (OFSAA) AAAA boys' vol leyball championship Saturday at Westdale High School in Hamilton. In short, they're the best high school volley ball team in Ontario. The top-ranked Devils breezed through the tournament going undefeated before beating sec ond-ranked M ississauga Rick Hansen 3-1 (25-18, 21-25, 27-25, 25-17) for the school's first OFSAA boys volleyball championship. "They played up to the level they needed to every game," said head coach Maria Seto. "They were fantastic." OT was perfect through pool play with a 4-0 record. Ancaster was the only team to take a game (27-25) before the Devils responded by winning the next two games (25-11, 15-6) and the set 3-1. OT never faltered again, beating Barrie Eastview 2-0 in the quarterfinals and London Saunders 2-0 in the semifinals. The wins set up a showdown with the Rick Hansen Storm for the champi onship. Hansen led for most of the first game until OT rattled off five straight points to tie the game at 15-15. Two miscues at the net by the Storm and a timely ace served by James Wood, grazing the back line, helped prqpel the Devils to an early 10 lead.
