Flora was predeceased by her beloved husband Walter, her parents Jack and Louise Livingston and sisters Bella, Jackie and Elaine. She is survived by her brother Reg who lives in Ottawa. Flora was a loving and devoted mother to Linda, Janice and Ron, a loving and proud grandmother to Loren (Heather), Jennifer (Ryan), Kelly (Scott), Shaun (Greer), Erin (Chris) and Lara (Dave). Known affectionately as GG to her great-grandchildren Madison, Avery, Courtney, Tyler, Emerson, Bennett and Maxim. She also held a special place in her heart for her niece Sharon (Gerry) and nephew Alex (Kathryn). Flora was born in Springhill, Nova Scotia, August 7, 1930, and moved with her family to Ontario around 1943 although she never forgot her roots. She had a passion for politics and devoted much of her time over the years to volunteering with the Federal and Provincial Liberal parties. Through the years she made many wonderful friends who will remember her and her great spirit. We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the wonderful nurses, caregivers and other staff at Northridge for their care and compassion. JONES, Martin Cunnick P.Eng, FCSCE, O.N. On April 6th, 2015, Martin Jones passed away in the care of West Oak Village in Oakville. His wife Jennifer had recently passed away in January 2015. He is survived by his four children and their families, Russell (Dolores), Clare (Grant), Neil (Tanya) and Andrew (Filiz), and 9 grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly. Martin lived a rich and rewarding life. Born August 5, 1934 in Peterborough, England and raised in Essex, he became a top athlete in 400m running competitions. He graduated from Chigwell School and then the University of London (Queen Mary College) , where he graduated as a civil engineer. He and his family emigrated to Canada in 1969. Martin worked for Wimpey Canada, upon his arrival. In 1971, he moved to Cementation Canada Ltd., where he progressed to Vice President. In 1986, Martin branched out and opened his own firm, Groundation Engineering Contractors and worked across Canada providing his specialized expertise, from Yellowknife to James Bay, Ungava Bay and many other remote areas of northern Ontario. As well, he supplied this expertise to many jobs in the Toronto and Ottawa areas, such as the Hockey Hall of Fame, CN Tower, Parliament Building tunnels, and bridges, to name a few. From 1991-92, Martin became President of the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers. When Martin retired, he dedicated much of his time to his church, St. Hilda's, in Oakville. He enjoyed helping individuals in need by delivering food supplies to the less fortunate, and volunteered his time to meet with troubled youth. He was the recipient of the Order of Niagara. More recently, Martin had battled with Alzheimer's for the past 5 years. "We should remember that it is not we that have created the earth on which we build our structures but God, who also created us. I believe, as and when we listen to Him, we will be able to build out structures and more importantly our lives on a firm foundation."
