The awards recognize hard working volunteers who have been nominated for their efforts by residents who felt they deserved recognition. The awards have been broken down into a variety of different categories. Rosa Bustamante and Rob McLean have been nominated for the Access Award, sponsored by MEDIchair. Rena Sava and the Oakville Wind Orchestra have been nominated for the Arts Award, sponsored by the Oakville Beaver. Anne-Marie, Gordon Lattemore, Hope in High Heels and the Silverhearts Association have been nominated for the Group Volunteer Award, sponsored by Whole Foods Market. Sean Livingston, Dr. Jane Coryell and Donna Starkey have been nominated for the Heritage Award, sponsored by Genworth Financial Canada. Caffrey Contracting, Flavia Ceschin, Rupal Hagerman, Nancy Hardcastle, Ishrani Henry, Nixon McCaig, Cheryle McCullagh, John McMullen, Nicolette Little, Sue Perry, Eric Roberts and Michael Shaen have been nominated for the Individual Volunteer Award, sponsored by Paradiso Restaurant. Margaret Andrews, Carole Camirand, Malcolm McDonald, Bill Miller, Catherine Moore and Shirley Walmsley have been nominated for the Senior Award, sponsored by Amica at Oakville. The Oakville Trafalgar High School Robotics Team has been nominated for the Youth Award, sponsored by the Royal Bank of Canada. The winners of the awards will be announced at an award ceremony and reception on Wednesday, June 3, which will be held at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre at 2302 Bridge Rd. The event will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are available for $15 each through the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts.
