Ironically, Dutton now has dementia. Here, Dutton's long-time neighbour Margaret Foley, daughter Jessica Dutton, son Daniel Dutton, and wife Marlene Dutton are pictured by the plaque. | photo by Eric Riehl Oakville Beaver (Follow on Twitter @halton_photog or facebook.com/HaltonPhotog) Oakville honours Dutton for forget-me-not contribution by David Lea Oakville Beaver Staff An avid Oakville gardener, whose mind has been claimed by dementia, was recognized for his work to beautify Munn's Creek Trail as the Town named a section of that trail in his honour last Thursday (May 14). The commemoration marked a commitment by the community not to forget this man or the thousands of Canadians who suffer from Alzheimer's Disease and dementia. Ian Dutton, a former chartered chemist and sales representative, was known for walking the trail every night with his dogs and for scattering seeds collected from plants and owers in his own garden as he went. Friends and family say the fruits of his labour can be seen to this day in the thriving patches of forget-me-nots that adorn the trail. see Ian on p.3 There's nothing that announces summer's arrival more than Oakville's annual Ribfest and the nger-licking scrumptious event is back for a fourth consecutive year, June 26-28, at Sheridan College. Organized by the Rotary Club of Oakville, The Cooperators Oakville Family Ribfest features nine ribbers, Ribfest chair Trish Peden says. The Oakville Beaver is also one of the media sponsors of the weekend festivities. The event that takes place the last weekend of June will run on the Friday from 4-11 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. "There's also a free Kids Play Zone, an amusement park with rides and games, various other food vendors and artists, a community marketplace, beer and wine for adults," Peden said. "We've got a Ferris wheel this year and a second beer tent and several new vendors, as well as a new car show involving some local auto dealers. "This community event involves thousands and thousands of people and more than 200 volunteers and we raise a lot of money for the community while everybody is having a wonderful time." see Ribfest on p.14 Optimize Performance (Adults and Children) · Attention span is short · Difficulty organizing & completing work · also helpful for Asperger's · also Psycho-educational testing ADD Centre High quality wood & vinyl shutters Neurofeedback and learning strategies can provide a lasting improvement.
