While many associate the holi days with family, friends and good times, there are many people who are dealing with depression, bereavement, family conflict and isolation. The Oakville Distress Centre recognizes this time of year brings out many different emotions and affects indi viduals in differ ent ways. The Distress Centre's lines are open seven days a week. Well-trained, compassionate volunteers can be contacted at 905849-4541 every day between noon and midnight. The service is confidential, anonymous and free and provides a listening and support service to almost 10,00 callers annually. For volunteer opportunities, the Centre's training program begins in February.
