O ur service com m unity has so much negative press especially the medical community. We want to let O akville residents know that in an em ergency it works. On Nov. 20, my son Thom as had a severe asthm a attack that alm ost took his life. But thanks to our desperate call to 911 and the quick response of the param edics and police, my son is alive. This group o f guardian angels we have in our com m unity do this on a daily basis and expect nothing in return. They are true heroes. The Oakville hospital emergency room team and M aternal Childcare Unit were professional and em otion ally supportive to our family. There is so m uch more to this story, but our reason for writing this letter is to publicly thank these heroes. Thank you to each and every one o f you but special thanks to para m edics Gavin Robb and Lawrence Berstein; Constables John Peppier, Susan Stew art, John Todd, C hris Dorrington, Ron Traub, John Foster, M ark Werner, Shawn*M azzuto; 911 operators Tanya H ighm ore and Chris Gauthier. As a final note, not only did they save T hom as' life, but came by the hospital to check on him and some w ith gifts. This was beyond the call o f their jo b description.
