The $2.5-million facility, located on Bron- te Road at Pine Glen Road, near Dundas Street, has actually been in operation since January, however, an of cial ribbon-cutting at the station kicked off Paramedic Services Week (May 24-30). "Due to new growth in the area, we knew a number of years ago that we would need a station here," said Halton Chief of Paramedic Services Greg Sage. "This happened to be Town-owned property so we worked with the Town to secure space for us and for the re hall, which is going in next door." see Station on p.7 Election signs will not be banned from public property during election campaigns in Oakville. Instead, the majority of Town councillors voted Monday to keep things status quo. That meant rejecting an outright ban, as well as a staffrecommended option that offered reducing the length of time signs could be displayed on public property (from 45 to 30 days) during an election campaign. Public concern about election signage has emerged as a signi cant issue over the last several years as there have been numerous provincial, federal and municipal election campaigns. Some residents have complained about the visual clutter caused by signs, litter created by poorly designed or installed signs, the potential for the placards to end up in the land ll after the election, and loss of public green space during campaign periods. With these issues in mind, last Dec. 22, council asked administrators to look into options around banning the display of all election signs on public property.
