The cash from the local charity will support Oakvillegreen's new program, `Discover Your Creek' -- Stewardship & Appreciation for Oakville's Urban River Valleys. In particular, the funds will pay for a creek-inspired photography contest, the creation of an urban river valley resource blog, several hands-on habitat stewardship activities and a familyfriendly Creek Discovery Day this fall. Oakvillegreen of cials recognize Oakville has no shortage of urban river valleys, including Sixteen Mile Creek Valley, Bronte Creek and Fourteen Mile Creek Valley. The group notes these venues allow residents to enjoy creek-side picnics and bike rides along kilometres of valley trails. That said, residents also have a signi cant role to play in caring for these creeks. Oakvillegreen is launching its Discover Your Creek program this weekend with a leisurely `Tour de Trees' bike ride for all ages and skill levels. The event is being held in partnership with Cycle Oakville along the trail system of Sixteen Mile Creek. Participants will depart from Lion's Valley Park's parking lot Saturday (June 13) at 10 a.m. The ride will explore the hidden treasures of Sixteen Mile Creek before returning to its starting point by noon.
