TD Summer Reading Club begins June 26 at Oakville Public Library 23 | Friday, June 19, 2015 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com R egistration for the TD Summer Reading Club opens next Friday , June 26. Kids can take part in fun activities and earn great prizes while practising and retaining the reading skills they achieved during the school year. Parents can register their children online via www.opl.ca or by visiting a Summer Reading Desk at any Oakville Public Library (OPL) branch. From July 6-Aug. 18, the library will host free drop-in activities for participants of all ages. In addition to setting reading goals and collecting prizes, participants can visit the library for storytimes, life-sized board game play, music- making workshops, dramatic arts, a chance to compete in Pan Am Library games and more. The library's popular Trivia Tuesdays will be returning, providing kids with fun, weekly quizzes that test their knowledge. Opportunities to volunteer during Summer Reading Club are also available for high school students (aged 14 and older). Interested teens can apply online through the application form available at the library's website. Volunteering at TD Summer Reading Club is a great way to acquire community service hours, meet new friends and gain leadership skills. Book lists and reading recommendations for preschool and school-aged children are avail- able online, and library staff are happy to provide early literacy advice in person.
