Apparently, it gets behind its Pan Am athletes as well. Approximately 500 people attended a Pan Am Games community celebration Tuesday afternoon at Centennial Square. The event was highlighted by the arrival of the Pan Am torch, which was carried into the square on a chalk-muraled pathway by Oakville community torchbearer Lynn Petruskavich. "It was so amazing, it exceeded all my expectations," said a beaming Petruskavich, Abbey McCay who intentionally took her time approaching the stage in Centennial Square in order to make eye contact with children and share the experience. "There was such a great energy in the air. Oakville knows how to turn out a crowd."
