Disney on Ice will present this time less story at Copps Coliseum from March 14 to 18, with a special appear a n c e by Mickey Mouse and his Disney pals. This tale of a young woman, who finds that true beauty lies within, dates back to the story of Cupid and Psyche in Greek mythology and has continued through the ages in various versions originating in a number of countries. "Our staging of the Be Our Guest scene incorporates a huge ring of mylar curtain, which the skaters move through as they skate," said music director Jerry Bilik. "The chorus skaters appear as tables of food and place settings...giant napkins with silverware. Also, w e've added a more elaborate ending...a ball room scene at the prince's castle." The skating director and choreogra pher added that the search for Belle was extensive. "We literally looked all around the world until we found BrandiLee Rousseau in Canada," he said. There are 16 male and 22 female professional skaters in the show, with an average of six costume changes per per formance for each skater. More than 75 milliners, dyers, tailors, embroiderers, seam stresses and silkscreen artists worked six months to complete the cos tume designs. It takes 8 to 10 hours to set up the show and four to six hours to tear it down.
