Oakvilles, known for crabapples
The Bronte Horticultural Society has a project. Some cities are known for their cherry blossoms, some for their lilacs, and others for their tulips.
The executive of the Bronte Horticultural Society would like to see Oakville become known for its flowering crabapple trees.
They stress that care is minimal on these trees and the reward is a continuing colour presentation for three season.
They are urging all citizens to have, at least, one of these trees on their property, particularly in the front of their home.
The Horticultural Club will be meeting next on May 4 in Hopedale Presbyterian Church hall, on the Third Line, at 8 p.m.
Mr. W.B. Brandis, of Niagara Chemicals, will speak on the principles of using insecticides.
