Trafalgar Road closure causes local traffic chaos Tuesday by David Lea Oakville Beaver Staff 17 | Thursday, July 2, 2015 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Halton police reported the re-opening of all lanes on Trafalgar Road at the QEW -- and the onramps to the highway -- by mid-afternoon Tuesday after a day of chaos of local roads. Traffic jams offered motorists bumper-to-bumper congestion near the scene after police closed a section of Trafalgar Road near the QEW following an accident in the area Tuesday morning. Other roadways affected by the backup included: Dundas Street, Upper Middle Road, Sixth Line, Third Line and Oxford Avenue, among others. Police said the accident occurred at 8:45 a.m., when a truck, passing through a construction zone in the area, snagged overhanging wires, which pulled down nearby traffic lights. Oakville Hydro confirmed no hydro poles were involved and no power outages occurred as a result of the incident. Officers re-opened the northbound lanes of Trafalgar Road at about 2:30 p.m., followed by the southbound lanes a half hour later. The closure of these roads meant there was no access to the QEW from Trafalgar Road for much of the day. Police said no one was injured in the accident. A traffic hazard in the form of downed traffic lights and wires caused the closure of Trafalgar Road at the QEW Tuesday and traffic chaos ensued. The road was re-opened by mid-afternoon in time for the evening rush hour. | photo by Riziero Vertolli Oakville Beaver (Follow on Twitter @halton_photog or facebook.com/HaltonPhotog) 0% Interest on All Water Treatment Equipment Until July 15th 2015 All Softeners, All Iron Removal Systems, All UV Units, All R/O Units!
