The report on the municipality's fiscal strength and its key achievements can be found online at www.oakville.ca. In it, external auditors KPMG validated the Town's financial statements, which indicate it is in a solid financial state and positioned well against future economic and growth challenges. The audited financial statements are presented in accordance with the Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards and Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. The annual report, with its audited Consolidated Financial Statement, presents the financial position of the Town and its consolidated entities for the 2014 fiscal year, and provides the reader with 2014 achievements, areas of focus, and 2015 key strategic initiatives. The report highlighted progress made on priorities in the Town's 2011-2014 Strategic Plan and Vision 2057 Master Plans. "Council is successfully tackling the issues that matter most to the community and keeping our financial promises to achieve promised results," said Oakville Mayor Rob Burton, calling the 2014 annual report "a great reflection of our progress and the major milestones we hit over the past year." The anual report noted the Town's progress made in 2014 on the Downtown Plan to rejuvenate the downtown streetscapes, transportation and cultural facilities. After public and stakeholder meetings, a staff report has gone to council to consider options for the reconstruction of Lakeshore Road and themes for cultural and performing arts spaces. A new zoning bylaw and inZone Conformity Official Plan Amendment (OPA) were approved in February 2014 to guide what, when and how buildings can be constructed in Oakville. From its Multi-Year Accessibility Plan (20122017), the Town developed new universal design standards to ensure all Town-owned facilities are accessible and barrier-free. Other highlights from 2014 include a redevelopment design for the historic Oakville Arena, a Heritage Grant Pilot Program, and the launch of the inaugural Oakville Children's Festival, which drew more than 15,000 visitors to Coronation Park last summer.
