Their management requires scientific best practices, coordinated community effort and public awareness," said Chris Mark, Oakville's Director of Parks and Open Space. He described Oakvillegreen's efforts as being "critical" to keeping invasive species at bay and giving native biodiversity "a leg up." Oakvillegreen does tree planting every year and encourages residents to pull garlic mustard. CH has a Pestofest each year where it's used to make pesto, Brock said. "This is the first time we've actually had a crew out pulling up invasive species," Brock said. "This is quite a pristine valley and it's environmentally sensitive.
