- Description
- No date or newspaper name is given with this clipping but thanks to the Nelson Women's Institute Tweedsmuir History Book III, we know that Reverend Facey was minister at Palermo United Church from 1940-1944.
- Notes
- Mrs. Darlington was the organist and choir director for 40 years. Mrs. G.S. Wood was wife of Stanley Wood who had owned and run the Palermo general store. (After Stanley's death, Mac and Myrtle McGill took it over.) The Wood family farm was just east of the intersection of Bronte and Upper Middle Roads.
Palermo United Church was founded as a Methodist Church in 1812; the building was erected in 1867. In 1925, this church became a part of the United Church of Canada. It is located on the north side of Dundas Street, just east of Old Bronte Road at 2521 Dundas St. West. A link to the present-day church website is provided for your information.
A history of the church is provided in the Nelson Women's Institute Tweedsmuir History Book III linked here for your further information. - Inscriptions
