Description
According to "The Sargant Story ; Sargant History ; Relatively Speaking" by their nephew, J. Kenneth C. Sargant, 1985, Billy and Hanna purchased a farm at Palermo in 1911, coming from a farm in the Kilbride area just north of Hamilton with their children. After retirement from the farm about 20 years later, they bought a cottage in Hamilton where they lived until William's death in 1941.

They had nine children, two of whom died in infancy. Their nephew tells of going with Hanna to Hamilton to deliver the butter she had made.

This photograph must have been taken around 1937-1940. It is hand-coloured. They are standing in front of a lush garden border with 2 "skyscrapers" in the background, indicating a nearby city.

They are buried in the Palermo Cemetery, Oakville.
