Oakville Fire fundraising car wash The Oakville Fire Department's Auto Extrication Team (AET) is again calling on the public to help them raise funds so it can defend its title at the upcoming Vehicle Rescue Challenge in New York. On Saturday, Aug. 29, the firefighter group will hold a car wash fundraiser at the Real Canadian Superstore, 201 Oak Park Blvd., from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The team said a previous car wash, held June 6, was a huge success, but noted more is needed for the team to compete in the North American Vehicle Rescue Challenge in Hagerman, N.Y. Oakville Fire hoping to send two teams Admission to the event is $1,500 per team with the Oakville Fire Department hoping to send two teams. The challenge runs from Sept. 8-12 and tests the skills of auto extrication teams from across North America and Europe.
