Jenner, an Appleby College grad who scored a key goal in Canada's come-from-behind 3-2 win over the United States in last year's Olympic women's hockey final, reportedly hoped to be selected by the Inferno so that she could also pursue her masters degree at the University of Calgary. "Very excited and honoured to be drafted to the #CWHL by the @InfernoCWHL can't wait to start this new chapter in Calgary," Jenner tweeted following the draft. The 24-year-old Jenner is Brianne Jenner coming off a stellar NCAA career at Cornell University, where she was a two-time Ivy League player of the year. She graduated this past spring as the school's all-time assists leader (135), also ranking fifth in goals (93) and second in points (228). The Canadian Women's Hockey League features five teams: the Boston Blades, Brampton Thunder, Montreal Stars, Toronto Furies and the Inferno. The notfor-profit league is centrally funded with the purpose of enabling elite female hockey players to compete at the highest level possible.
