Starting Oct. 24-25, Dieu, L'Homme, L'Amour (God, Man, Love), is a celebration of French culture with music in French or by French composers. The pieces all relate to the theme of love. To celebrate Christmas, Musikay has scheduled its annual presentation of George Frideric Handel's Messiah on Dec. 19 with soloists, a choir and orchestra. "Our performance is unique because we truly bring the text to life in an interpretation that has left many patrons commenting they had never heard Messiah done so passionately before," stated a media release. The new season closes on April 16, 2016 with The world of Dufay, described as a marriage of the music of Guillaume Dufay, Josquin Des Prez and other composers of the FrancoFlemish school. Anyone interested in learning about music or improving their musical skills can sign up for workshops and singalongs put on by Musikay. The stop is part of the award-winning magician's Imagine Tour, which supports the Canadian Diabetes Association and also has stops in Peterborough, Barrie and North Bay. "Today, one in four Canadians has been diagnosed with diabetes. Diabetes is a serious disease that is becoming the leading cause of death in S C O T T I S H D A N C I N G Canada," stated a media release. "It affects nine million Canadians and costs our healthcare system more than $13 billion annually. Over the next decade, another 1.2 million Canadians are expected to be diagnosed and financial burden is expected to rise by another $4.7 billion." Tickets for the show range from $30-50.
