Oakville Arts Council hosting workshops to help artists The Oakville Arts Council (OAC) is putting on two workshops for local artists in the coming months. On Monday, Oct. 19, the local group will put on its Accessing Grants workshop with expert speakers from Humber College's Arts Management program, the Ontario Trillium Foundation and Oakville Community Foundation. The event is meant to help provide the tools and information needed to make accessing and writing grants a much simpler and less-intimidating process. The New Age of Fundraising workshop will be held on Thursday, Nov. 19 with speakers from Humber College's Fundraising program, Artscape Toronto, Raindance Toronto and the Oakville Community Foundation. The workshop discusses how fundraising has changed, where it is headed and how local non-profits can make their campaigns stand out. Both workshops will be held at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre -- Multipurpose Room No. 1 (Accessing Grants) and the Black Box Theatre (New Age of Fundraising) -- and run 6-9 p.m. Both workshops are also free for OAC members who can register at www. oakvillearts.com. For more information on either workshop, contact Giulia Simonato at giulia. simonato@oakville.ca. Applying for 2016 Cultural Grant The OAC is reminding local not-forprofit arts groups the deadlines for 2016 Oakville Cultural Grant applications are approaching.
