If I feel there is still something missing, I can rent artwork, rugs, pillows or lamps ." Either way, Vajsar says it usually takes only one walk through a person's home to get her creative juices flowing. She describes it as an exciting process, one that sometimes keeps her awake at night as she creates a vision of what she wants to achieve in each room of the house. She also tries to hold to a very tight budget, being aware of the fact that most people do not want to spend a great deal of money on a house they are leaving behind. "Sometimes I will recommend painting or wallpapering, but I only advise what is absolutely necessary," she says. Vajsar's success in transforming resale homes has led to a lot of repeat business from clients who want her to help them decorate their new homes as well. " I don't hold to trends or fashions," she explains. "I try to understand what my clients are all about. They can like any kind of style, but I help them to do it right." Vajsar likens good design to tasting a straw berry for the first time. If you've never experi enced it, you can't appreciate what you're missing. But after that first taste, there's no going back. She notes that her resale clients are often absolutely shocked at the changes that can be achieved by good design and attention to detail. An important element of any good design, she feels, is the creation of different areas within the home to serve different purposes. Places for children to play safely, places for entertaining guests, a quiet comer for a home office or a cozy space to read a book or watch TV can all be incorporated with a functional design plan. Vajsar believes that by dedicating particu lar areas of the home to certain tasks, it creates a sense of order and calm in people's increas ingly hectic lives. In addition to residential design, Vajsar also serves corporate and business clients who are looking to add a little polish to their com pany image. It is here that her background as a commercial designer in Europe comes into play. Vajsar believes strongly in the importance of good design in creating a favourable first impression with clients. Whether dealing with office design, logos, showrooms or exhibition displays, she once again relies on the power of good design to get the job done--whether that means creating a more functional and pleasant work environment or merchandising a prod uct more effectively. A well known term for years in the real estate business, a "fluffer" is someone who can take a tired-looking house and turn it into something that can catch a buyer's eye. One such master of the make-over is Lenka Vajsar, owner of InDeco Design and Decorating. For the past two years, Vajsar has been working her magic on homes throughout Halton, using her skills at furniture arranging and accessorizing to give resale properties a fresh and appealing new face. With a personality as vibrant as the orange walls of her home, Vajsar is passionate about the work she does. She says the word `fluffer' captures perfecdy the nature of resale decorat ing. The challenge--which she loves--is to take what clients already have and simply make it look better. Whether that means haul ing furniture from one room to another (she's even had her husband help her move a piano) or grouping accessories and artwork in a more pleasing way, Vajsar brings an artist's sensibil ity to the task.
