"Over the past nine years, we've raised $868,000 from raffle ticket and button sales," said John Dawson, incoming OWF chair at last week's kick-off at Chaps Restaurant. "And, if we can raise another $132,000, then we will have raised $1 million for the community." This year's festival will be held on June 23, 24 and 25 at four locations - Coronation Park, Bronte Road, Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park, and downtown Oakville. There will be no events at Lakeside Park because of park recon struction. Dawson, an OWF volun teer for seven years, said "we're planning a huge, huge celebration, with excellent variety - and we're guarantee ing really good weather." Over the years, the festival has raised funds for local charities, service clubs, sports and cultural organizations, schools and churches. Buttons, $8 in advance, will go on sale on May 22, and will be available from community groups, and at banks, Petro-Canada stations, the Rainbow Gas Bar on Third Line south of Speers Road, and Canada Post out lets.
