Oakville was slated to face the host Charlottetown Royals at 7 p.m. Atlantic time, a game that began after the Beaver's press deadlines. Oakville's other preliminary-round games are scheduled for today (Thursday) against Calgary Foothills; tomorrow (Friday) versus Newfoundland and Labrador; and Saturday against New Brunswick FDSA. Each of those contests are to kick off at 2 p.m. local time. The top teams in each of the two pools will face off in the national championship game Sunday at noon. Oakville earned its berth in the national club championships by defeating Ottawa South United 5-2 in last month's Sports Briefs Ontario Cup U17 Tier 1 final. Quick strikes lift PWHL Hornets over Toronto Meaghan Hector and Maddie Sisokin scored goals 1:33 apart late in the second period to propel the Oakville Hornets to a 4-2 victory over the host Toronto Aeros Sunday in Provincial Women's Hockey League play. Game time is 8:30 p.m. Jones wins silver at triathlon World Cup event Oakville native Kyle Jones enjoyed a positive ending to a difficult triathlon season by earning silver Sunday at the triathlon World Cup in Mexico. The 30-year-old Olympian posted a time of 55:14 in the sprint-distance format (750-metre swim, 20-kilometre bike, 5km run) in his final race of the season. Jones has had to battle through injuries and bad luck this year. He was forced out of the Pan Am Games race in Toronto this summer when a cone punctured his bike tire.
