Held at the library's Central Branch auditorium, a panel of award-winning photographers scoured over all the submissions and selected winners for three categories -- Natural Environment, Enhanced (original, digitally rendered photos) and Mobile -- in two divisions, Grades 7-9 and Grades 10-12. All contest participants also had the chance to vote on the People's Choice winner. "Oakville Public Library provides a number of programs, workshops and contests for teens that foster creativity and build confidence," stated a media release. "The library's Teen Photography Contest is one of many that motivate teens to get creative, learn something new or enhance their skill sets." Monday Night at the Movies, which recently launched its 10th season, is an independent, not-for-profit film festival, run by volunteers that operates in partnership with Film Circuit, a division of TIFF . "Our mission is to provide film lovers with an opportunity to see great international films they may not otherwise enjoy access to. We're like the Oakville branch of TIFF ," said Clare Henderson, Monday Night at the Movies chair. "Each year, we are provided with TIFF's programming schedule and an opportunity to preview a selection of the films. We work very hard to select a diverse mix of Canadian and international comedies, dramas and documentaries, and we look forward to sharing these fantastic films with our audience." Films featured from 2014 and `15 Films from both the 2014 and 2015 film festivals will be included in this season's programming. Films are shown every other Monday, September to April at the Cineplex Winston Churchill Cinemas, 2081 Winston Park Dr., with a short break during the Christmas season. On Oct. 19, Sturla Gunnarsson's Monsoon will be shown. The Canadian feature documentary was filmed over the course of India's 2013 monsoon season. All screenings begin at 7:30 p.m. and tickets can be purchased starting from 6:45 p.m. in the lobby for $10 each (cash only). Kicking off each feature film is a short animated film from graduates of Sheridan College's animation program. On Oct. 19, Xin Wu's Box World will be featured.
