For the past 36 years, ODS has been producing a home-grown subscription season full of comedy, farce, drama, thriller, mystery and musical with shows put on by The Oakville Players and West End Studio Theatre. The two local community theatre groups work together to produce five different plays for the annual series. "Producing the plays for the Drama Series involves all sorts of people working toward a common goal," stated a media release. "Although the actors are the most visible participants, equally important are the producer, director, set designer, lighting designer, sound technician, stage manager as well as the folks doing costumes, props, set construction and painting, and publicity." Five-play season Kicking off this season's five-play series is West End's production of Perfect Wedding, written by Robin Hawdon and directed by Yo Mustafa. The romantic comedy is about a bridegroom who wakes up on his wedding morning to find a strange woman in bed beside him. The award-winning play was originally presented in 2006, while the original show won the Audience Choice Award for Best Production. Most of the original cast has returned for the staging of this year's production, which features Oakville residents Meghan Chalmers, Danny Deakin, Jennifer Farrugia and Franny McCabe-Bennett, as well as Mauricio Canjura and Dina Dametto. In the original production, McCabe-Ben- nett won Best Performance by a Featured Actress and Deakin was nominated Best Performance by a Featured Actor.
