Since the current Licensing By-law 2008-093 was passed, a number of amendments and new schedules have been added. As a result, there is a need for clarity and consistency. The intention of the comprehensive Licensing By-law is to incorporate all licensing requirements under one by-law, while addressing matters of public safety, consumer protection and nuisance control. Information meetings have been hosted by town staff whereby interested industry stakeholders were invited to provide comments regarding proposed amendments to the Licensing By-law. On Monday, September 14, 2015, proposed Licensing Bylaw 2015-075 was presented to ASC for consideration. Subsequently at the Council meeting of Monday, September 21, 2015, the proposed by-law was referred back to staff for further review. An updated, proposed Licensing By-law will be presented for consideration at the Monday, November 9, 2015 ASC meeting. Anyone wishing to speak to this matter at the meeting is invited to do so. Written comments may also be submitted for distribution at the meeting and should be directed to the Town Clerk, no later than noon on Monday, November 9, 2015, by email at townclerk@oakville.ca, or by mail: Town Clerk, 1225 Trafalgar Rd., Oakville, ON, L6H 0H3. The decision of the ASC will be forwarded to Council for consideration on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber.
