OMHS launches new Tree of Lights The Oakville and Milton Humane Society (OMHS) wants to help honour local pets with a new event this holiday season. Pet owners can purchase a bulb for the OMHS Tree of Light for $5 each -- a red light will honour a living pet, while a white bulb remembers a pet that has passed. Every dedication will have the pet's name inscribed on a peg display in the OMHS lobby. "By purchasing a bulb(s) you will help care for the animals in our community who have nowhere else to go," stated a media release. "This tree will also serve as a reminder that OMHS is here to protect, care and educate." On Thursday, Dec. 17, there will be a Tree of Light event at the 445 Cornwall Rd. shelter from 6:30-8 p.m., with the lighting of the tree taking place at 7 p.m. To purchase a bulb, drop by OMHS, or mail a cheque to 445 Cornwall Rd., Oakville, ON, L6J 7S8, or call 905-845-1551, ext. 22. · · · The OMHS Pet Pics with Santa returns next weekend where residents are invited to bring their furry friends for a photo op with Old Saint Nick. The event takes place at the following locations: · Ren's Pets Depot, 4002 Trafalgar Rd., Oakville -- Saturday, Nov. 14; Sunday, Nov. 15; Saturday, Dec. 5; and Saturday, Dec. 12 from 9:30 a.m. to noon, and 12:30-3 p.m.; · Milton Mall, 55 Ontario St. S., Milton -- Sunday, Dec. 6 and Sunday, Dec. 13 from 6-8 p.m. All dogs must be on leash and all cats and small animals must be in carriers. Proceeds from the Pet Pics and Tree of Light will benefit the OMHS.
