They're pictured here in the support group's future home at 2522 Rebecca St. Legacy campaign supports The Lighthouse continued from p.9 The campaign, which has a fundraising goal of $4 million over the next three years (20152017), will help Lighthouse purchase and renovate the larger, permanent home as well as fund its programming and operations. Longtime Lighthouse volunteers Len and Frances Pace and their event committee, which hosted the annual Bal de Neige-themed dinner and dance earlier this year, were also honoured. Through their AMPed for Life team, named in memory and honour of their son Alex, they raised funds to help children during the cancer journey and the grief journey, which follows the death of a sibling or a parent. "Alex believed strongly in helping others even during his own struggles," said the couple in a press release. "We love the idea the healing | submitted photo power of music will be used in the AMPed for Life music space as one of many tools at the Lighthouse to help children and teens along their healing journey." Lighthouse, founded 16 years ago by Jo Fallon, is run by a board of directors, staff, facilitators, and community volunteers. It offers free, open-ended peer support programs to children, teens and their parents/guardians, following a death in the family, for as long as they need it. "Everyone grieves differently, so participants attend their groups as long as needed, with no set deadlines or expectations," said Britta Martini-Miles, executive director of Lighthouse.
