When Georgetown resident Evelyn Window read on her Voter Information Card the location of the polling station she was supposed to cast her ballot at in the federal election, she figured she wouldn't bother voting. "I couldn't see me going to Acton to vote," said Window, a senior citizen who lives on Guelph St. According to the information on the card, Window was supposed to vote at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 197 in Acton (Poll No. 107). She said her neighbour received the same information on her card. After thinking about it for a while, Window, who has never missed voting in an election, and did not want to miss this election, decided to call the Elections Canada office in Acton. She's glad she did because she said she was told that due to a "computer glitch" the polling station information was incorrect on her card and she was actually supposed to vote at Poll No. 127, at Maple Ave. Baptist Church. She said she told her neighbour that the information on the card was incorrect, but was concerned that others in the area may have also received incorrect voting information so she contacted The Independent & Free Press. Wellington-Halton Hills returning officer Joe Kuglin said Tuesday, however, "it doesn't appear that mistake is prevalent in that area." Kuglin said with almost 80,000 eligible voters living in the riding there are bound "to be two or three" instances of incorrect information going out for various reasons. "If someone's card is wrong all they have to do is call in (to the Elections Canada office in Acton at 1-866-2815091) and we'll correct it," said Kuglin.
