As part of their study of black history, students at St. Francis of Assisi School in Georgetown were entertained by storyteller and singer Emerita Emerencia, who told stories passed down from her grandmother, and presented using song and drums. Sponsored by the Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton (CCAH) in partnership with the Town of Oakville and funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the program is designed to help integrate Black History into the Halton Region elementary school curriculum.
