Following the expectation of local trustee, Irene McCauley, Halton District Catholic School Board trustees took no action at Tuesday's board meeting on a previously tabled motion regarding Christ the King School busing for Georgetown South students. In February, McCauley tabled a motion to review the busing for these students as an exception to the board's transportation policy, until a legal opinion was obtained on a 2002 motion that provides the busing based on safety hazards. In a memo the board's solicitor stated the 2002 motion "is a valid and standing motion and that all subsequent motions related under the previously tabled motion heading of Policy Exceptions were submitted (by staff) in error." Tuesday's action-- or lack of it-- means that busing will continue for Georgetown South students, and will not be considered again when annual reviews of the transportation policy exceptions are done.
