At provincial qualifier : Wallace, Troughton 1-2

Justine Wallace and Bethany Troughton, of the Halton Hills Gymnastics Centre, finished first and second, respectively, in Level 5 of the 12-13 year old category at a recent provincial qualifier held in Ottawa. Wallace placed in top spot overall in her division after achieving a first-place medal on bars, vault and beam as well as a fourth on floor. Troughton placed second overall with a first place finish on floor, adding a runnerup finish on the beam, fourth on the vault and fifth on bars. Justine achieved a total score of 36.7 that combined with her first qualifying scores from a November meet, puts her through to the provincial finals in April. Teammate Rachel Fobert achieved third place finishes on bars and beam at her first provincial qualifier to end up in fourth place overall. Alandra Telschow was victorious in the Level 5 10-11 year old category following two firsts on vault and floor and secondplace finishes on beam and bars. She also qualified for provincial finals. Level 5, 9-year-olds: Christine Kennedy-- 1st overall (1st vault, bars; 21 beam, floor; qualified for provincial finals); Katie Annan-- 2nd overall (1st beam, 3rd vault, bars, 4th floor), Xhosa Baker-- 3rd overall (2nd vault, bars; 3rd beam). Level 6, 9-year-olds: Emily Krusky-- 1st overall (1st vault, bars; 2nd beam, floor); Tiffany Giles: 2nd overall (1st bars, 2nd floor, 3rd beam, 4th vault). Level 6, 10-11-year-olds: Caralyn Hale-- 9th overall. Level 6, 12-13-year-olds: Rose Schmidt-- 2nd overall (2nd beam, 4th bars; Brittany Lowe-- 6th overall (1st floor, 2nd vault, 3rd bars); Michelle Kupa-- 9th overall. Level 7, 10-11-year-olds: Freeda Murphy-- 2nd overall (1st bars, 2nd vault, beam, floor) Level 7, 12 & 13-year-olds: Desiray Ebbinge-- 4th overall (2nd bars, 3rd beam, 4th vault); Jennifer Garvie-- 5th overall (2nd beam; 3rd vault; qualified for provincial finals).
