It's nice to see many of the snowbirds returning home after flying to warmer places for the winter. Welcome back everyone! Were you one of the organized people who thought ahead and renewed your membership before leaving? If not, now is the time to do so. As you know, you must be a paid member to participate in many of the events at the centre. Update on the cribbage teams: Mary Walsma says both teams will move on to the District Games in the Seniors Cribbage Games, which are held in Burlington in May. Good luck to both teams. There is a limited amount of tickets still available for the Easter Dinner on Thursday April 13. Tickets must be purchased by today, April 7. The dinner menu includes ham, scalloped potatoes, green salad and rolls followed by fruit cocktail and cookies. There will be prizes awarded to the best or funniest Easter bonnet. Everyone who went to Rama on Thursday enjoyed a good time. Barb Hunter is all smiles after coming out ahead. She won the 50/50, the prize for having a birthday close to Peggy Madden. People sitting in the lucky window seats were Rita Court, Pat Frizzell, Beryl Clegg and Norma Sanderland. The next trip to Rama will be Wednesday April 26. The next evening Euchre will be April 19 at 7:15 p.m. It is always a great evening. Now that the nights are lighter and the weather is better there is no excuse for not coming out. Any of our fair weather friends who are now back home, come on out and enjoy the comradeship by playing Euchre on April 19, Bid Euchre every Thursday afternoon, or Cribbage and Canasta Thursday mornings. The next big fundraising effort will be a walkathon on Saturday, May 27. If you would like to sponsor, there will be pledge sheets at the front desk. There will be two different routes. One will be in the park, which is fairly flat, and one that ís more vigorous. Both should take about an hour. More details to follow. The Brown team has done it again. Marg Haring's Brown team beat Margaret Neilson's Black team 17-9. However, it was close right to the end. If you have no idea what carpet bowling is all about, Eileen Dix wrote a little piece in the current newsletter that explains the game. The new newsletters are at the front desk. The person at the front desk will be happy to help you if you can't find yours. The newsletter will keep you updated on activities at the Centre for May and June. It you are new in town and would like one, just pop in Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Eileen Masini has kindly offered to take over the task of keeping the newspaper cuttings current in our scrapbook. If you are at the Centre and have time to spare, take time to look through the scrapbooks or photo albums that Francis Hogenbirk looks after. It is amazing how many interesting events have taken place here over the years. The following Friday is Good Friday and the Centre will, of course, be closed for both the Friday and Easter Monday. The new work station, which will replace the conglomerate of shelves, tables and desks at the front entrance, is now installed. It should make it a lot easier for everyone seated there. No more drafts when the door opens on a cold day. Thanks to Dan Allen of Acton Furniture and Installations (specializing in office work stations) for his support, advice and installation, and to the two gentlemen Brian Reid and David Allen, who were so busy making sure everything was to our satisfaction
