Compost Give-Away sets new donation record

Halton Region collected 7.6 tonnes of food and a record $9,545 at the spring Compost Give-Away held earlier this year. More than 4,700 residents brought food or monetary donations in exchange for compost created at the Halton Waste Management Site in Milton. The food and cash donations were divided equally between the eight municipal food banks within Halton, including Georgetown Bread Basket and Acton FoodShare. Another Compost Give-Away will be held in the fall.
