With meet in Oshawa Local gymnasts wrap up season

The competitive season for the Halton Hills Gymnastics Centre concluded recently with the invitational meet at Gemini Gymnastics in Oshawa. The competition began with the Ontario Development Program event, where the gymnasts are assessed in the areas of strength, speed, power, endurance, flexibility and handstand development. This gave girls in the beginner group their first competition experience. The girls participating were: Grace Turner (Gold score), Danielle Logozny (Bronze score), Lindsay Quinn (Silver score), Maya Da Silva (Gold score), Emma Heaps (Silver score), Nita Stranaghan (Silver score), Emily McClements (Bronze score), plus Gabrielle Pearce (Bronze score) from the Mini Pre-competitive group. In the level 3 competition Ashley Butler achieved her best result with a gold on bars in the 8year-old category, finishing third overall, while Lily Hughes attained her highest score on bars in the same level. Competing in the 9year-old level 3 division, Anica Chouinard finished second overall including hold medals on bars and beam. Halton Hills athletes competing in the Level 4 events were again successful. In the 10-year-old group, Jasmine Gilmour and Melissa Pennington finished first and second overall, with Gilmour winning golds on bars and floor, and Pennington winning gold on beam. Taylor Belcher also won her group, competing in the 11-yearold division, including gold medals
