Christ the King students discuss artwork displayed recently at the school's Arty Party.
More than 200 works of student art were on display during the Christ the King (CTK) High School's recent "Arty Party". The spring exhibition of student artwork was held by the school's Visual Art Department in the library, which was transformed into a festive gallery for the event. The show's focus was this semester's Grade 12 class of individual thematic works, using a range of media including metal sculpture, painting in acrylics, oils and watercolour, photography and printmaking. The 40 Grade 12 pieces were part
of a special juried exhibition within the overall show, with prizes awarded to winners according to a variety of criteria. Judges were local graphic designer/illustrator Peter Perko, and Slavko Ray, visual art teacher at CTK. Also on display at the exhibition were Grade 9 life drawing, watercolour and landscaping painting, Grade 10 life drawing and portraiture and Grade 11 drawing, scratchboard and relief printing. Arty Party organizers provided music, baked goods and refreshments for those who attended.
