Through the end of the month the artwork of Norval resident Robert Hurst will be featured at The Main Street Inn. Hurst, who owns Garden Gate Florist in Norval and has a background in interior design, said this is the first exhibit of his artwork in Canada. A two-hour open house show and sale of his work, which has been on display throughout September, will be held Monday, Sept. 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Main Street Inn, 126, Main St. South, Georgetown. Everyone is welcome to drop by to see the artwork and meet Hurst. "This is really exciting as my works have mainly been shown all over the U.S. for the past year-and-a-half," said Hurst, who last April earned a place in the Guinness World Records book by assembling the world's largest duchess rose. Due to the success of his art exhibitions Hurst said he has opened another company called Evoked Emotions, which came from the idea behind his artwork. "Much of my art is abstract and tends to evoke different feelings in everyone who views them," said Hurst. He described his work as having a masculine edge. He works in mixed mediums, has done several triptych pieces, two-piece artworks and a few single canvases. He said several abstract paintings of trees were based on the surrounding area of Norval. "What really grabs people's attention in my artwork is the flexibility in which these paintings can be displayed. Several can be flipped and spaced in many different ways." Hurst has more than 30 pieces of art on display at Main St. Inn with prices ranging from $100 to $450. Each one comes with a certificate of authenticity and appraisal value. He said his work has been sold throughout the U.S. and Canada and he has done several commissioned pieces for both the private and corporate sector. Hurst's gallery/studio is currently located within Garden Gate Florist, 511 Guelph St., Norval. For more information or to arrange a private viewing of his work contact Hurst at 905-873-6067
