Limehouse resident Alexandra Jarvis has made many headlines for her outstanding achievements as a competitive runner, so naturally one would assume she'd also be an effective player on the soccer pitch. The long-striding defender played a key role for her North Mississauga Panthers as they recently won the Ontario Cup under-13 girls' championship, shutting down defending champion Brams United Blaze of Brampton 1-0 in the final match at The Soccer Centre in Vaughan. It's the fourth year that Jarvis, a grade 8 Stewarttown Public School student, has lined up for the Panthers, and she's usually responsible for keeping the opposition's strikers in check. Jarvis was elbowed in the face during the South Region Soccer League's Cup final just prior to the Ontario Cup-- again against Brams United-- injuring her left wrist and thumb while breaking her fall, but that didn't keep her out of the North Mississauga starting 11 for the big rematch. Georgetown's Shauna Patterson played for Brampton.
