It's mine, no mine!

John MacDonald (12) and teammate Jamie Dowell of tournament host Stewarttown Middle School hold off an opponent's attack during the annual Stinger Invitational on Saturday at Georgetown District High School. Twelve teams were entered in each of the girls' and boys' divisions. Stewarttown's Grade 8 girls didn't lose a game throughout the tourney and defeated Oakville's E.J. James 25-19 in the final match after edging past Brookville 26-24 in the semi-finals. Rolling Meadows of Burlington was the champion on the boys' side. The Stingers are preparing for the Provincial Cup Nov. 10-11 in Oakville and also recently completed work on new beach volleyball courts at their school. Any teams interested in entering spring tournaments can call Kevin Hughes at 905-873-1637. Photo by Yves Desjardins
