Spectators in Halton Hills' arenas should not have to shiver in the cold much longer as Town council directed arena staff to turn heaters on sooner. At a recent council meeting, Ward 3 Councillor Dave Kentner asked what the current guidelines were for spectator heating in arenas. Terry Alyman, the Town's Director of Recreation and Parks, said, based on the current policy, heaters can be turned on at the request of a spectator when the temperature falls below -3 C. "Is there some way we can be more proactive?" asked Kentner, adding it could often be difficult to find a staff member to turn on the heaters. Alyman said staff could be more proactive and that they would be directed to anticipate when there may be a number of spectators expected at an event and to turn the heaters on before they are asked.
