Centennial Public School continues to enhance learning through our extra-curricular activities. Our boys' and girls' basketball teams hosted and participated in the Charger Challenge. They competed against such schools as: West Oaks, E.J. James, Rolling Meadows, W. I. Dick, Frontenac and Silver Creek. Demonstrating their well-developed skills, sportsmanship and teamwork, both teams took home the championship. The Centennial Girls team defeated W.I. Dick in their final and the Boys' team defeated West Oaks. The School Council has also been busy and supporting Halton Food For Thought with a school hat day activity. This organization supports nutrition programs in the Halton region. Centennial was able to donate over $275! This month, Centennial is also supporting the Heart and Stroke Foundation's Jump Rope for Heart initiative. Upcoming events at Centennial are numerous. On April 4, Centennial's Annual Talent Show will take place 79 p.m. It is a showcase of our school's diverse talent. A small entrance fee of $2 per person or $5 per family will be collected at the door. Centennial will be sending one Senior Lego Robotics Team and one Junior Technology Team to the Annual Halton Skills Competition at E. C. Drury High School in April. Students must build, plan and complete a task using Lego and a computer program. They will be judged on planning, task function and presentation. Martin Follose's play The Last Gladiator will be presented by Centennial's Drama Club on May 31. It is a light-hearted comedy set in Ancient Rome, including such characters as Minimus, Verbilina and Gladius. It should prove to be an entertaining evening out for the family.
