Halton Police officers, including members of the Tactical Rescue Unit (TRU), were called to a Sargent Rd. residence at approximately 5:25 p.m. Wednesday for a medical situation. Police say a male resident of the home was distraught, refused medical intervention, and did not want the police there. The man was not armed or threatening anyone, but refused to come out of the home. Police negotiated with the man who eventually came outside without incident. He was taken to Oakville Trafalgar Hospital for treatment. Witnesses say the standoff lasted approximately two hours. A police spokesperson said TRU officers are routinely called to such incidents. ··· Halton Police are investigating the theft of $16,000 worth of electrical wire taken from McArthur Technical Corp. on Regional Rd. 25 sometime between Friday (Ap. 13) and Tuesday (Apr. 17). The eight 1,000 ft. spools were stored outside of the building.
