Thank you, soldiers Our lives are in your hands, but you put your life at risk for us. We will give you our souls because you gave us your heart. Even if you are in a different country, we share blood. Thank you soldiers, thank you very much. You have made a difference in our lives. Without you it would be a surprise. You have made me sad about where your Letters to the Editor 11 | Thursday, November 12, 2015 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com body lies, but happiness fills in me what makes me cry. You have saved us, you have saved us all. Without you, we would be gone. How can I thank you? I can't say goodbye. But I will wear a poppy to thank you, for this life. Thank you soldiers! Shreyas Ramachandran, 11, Oakville Remembrance Day poem Bang, Bang, the sound of a gunshot, For everyone knows that a lesson has been taught. Never stray from the path to get somewhere sweet, Or you'll find yourself dead before your heart makes a beat Life was hard, every day and every night, Everyone was tired, on the ground and in flight. Journeys were long and they were very slow moving, But training kept us fit and freedom kept us going. As we watched the bombs falling, so fast and slick, We'd be under a shelter that was safe to pick. Everyone in panic, the guns shooting loud, This was every day's wake-up sound, nothing to be proud. Rivals closing in, fear running through your head, Without protection or a plan, you'd be lost, they said. Days of danger was the life we had, With no family, not a mom or a dad. Most days were hard, we did things by force, You could only breathe safely when you were off the battle course. Many had complained and were full of worry, It was true, our jobs were cold and dirty. Some were excited, some were scared, And some couldn't even bear. But it was the life we had and how much we tried, For soon we hoped that good would then rise. Not many made it, most had passed on, But we will remember them, from dusk until dawn. We are your heroes, bold and true, The odd life we had, remembered, for you.
