Grade 6 assessments revealed 87 per cent of Grade 6 students met or exceeded provincial standards in reading; 88 per cent in writing; and 71 per cent in mathematics, an increase of four per cent over last year. "While these results are favourable, there is still room for growth to enable our students to succeed and reach their full potential," commented Paula Dawson, HCDSB's director of education. "We are pleased with these results as they indicate the percentage of students who have met or exceeded the provincial standard in the Grade 6 assessment of mathematics has improved over the past year." Provincial-level results for the Englishlanguage school system are not available this year as not all schools participated due to labour disruptions. Approximately 70 per cent of Grades 3 and 6 students did not participate in the 2015 provincial assessments.
