The campaign runs until Dec. 20 so presents can be taken to needy families in time for Christmas. Residents can drop off new unwrapped toys, gift cards or cash at any Halton police station. The Halton Regional Police Service Headquarters is located at 1151 Bronte Rd., while the Oakville District Police Station is located at 95 Oak Walk Dr. "There are so many needy families that people really don't know about, unfortunately," said Const. Jody Dugas, regional manager for the Halton police Toys for Tots Campaign. "Oakville and Halton are such well-to-do communities and they are beautiful places to work and live, but there are definitely people Tiger Jeet Singh, Tiger Ali Singh and representatives from Halton police, Burlington Bulldogs, Canadian Tire, Woodbine Entertainment Group, and the Salvation Army kicked off the Toys for Tots 2015 campaign at Canadian Tire on Guelph Line in Burlington this year. The police see those families every day, so it is kind of nice for us to be able to go in and say to these families, `Christmas is looked after and we care.'" Dugas said gift cards for stores at local malls are particularly great donations as they allow teens to purchase gifts that are right for them in a way where no one knows they are the recipient of a charity. Donations for the campaign can also be dropped off at Budds' BMW at 2454 South Service Rd. W., Budds' Subaru at 2474 South Service Rd. W., or Shakers Smokehouse BBQ and Sports Bar at 580 Kerr St. Shakers will hold a special Holiday Shake in support of the Toys for Tots Campaign on Saturday (Nov. 5) at 7 p.m. The evening will feature dinner specials that begin at 6:30 p.m. and live music by the classic rock group the Van Deferens at 9:30 p.m. In 2014, the Toys for Tots program helped more than 4,000 families in the Region of Halton. This year police are aiming for a campaign that is just as, if not more, successful. Happy Holidays Keep your retirement dollars working for you.
