45 | Thursday, December 10, 2015 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insidehalton.com l Obituaries GREGORY, Ursula Ursula Gregory (née von Cube) left this life on October 21, 2015, in her 61st year while in the wonderful care of Bethell House in Inglewood, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was a great lover of all things furry. She was forever crafting something, sometimes with a sewing machine, sometimes with a table saw and sometimes in the kitchen. Always the bright light in a room, her quick wit and enthusiasm for all things fun will be sorely missed by all, especially the staff and clientele at Burlington Physiotherapy where she worked for 10 years as the office manager. Lovingly remembered by former spouse Steve, sisters Marianne and Goodie (Bruce), nephews Judd and Cody (Susi), nieces Nicole (Scott) and Dayna, as well as three grand-nieces. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, December 16 at 4 p.m. at Nassagaweya Presbyterian Church, 3097 15 Side Road Campbellville, ON. Survived by Anthony Hampson, her loving husband of 63 years, her four sons Michael (Andrea), David (Dee), Keith (Anne) and Peter (Darlene) and daughter, Terry (Bruce). Adored Grandmother ("Anna") to Kyle, Brett, Lee (Ashley), Hannah, Erin; Leiah, Torey, Evann; Emma, Claire; Shawn, Mathew, Vanessa (Dan), Bruce, Shaun, Samantha; Zoe, Carmen, and Ingrid. Great Grandmother to Spencer and Brayden. Daughter of the late William and Mildred Wray (Mitchell) of Montreal. Sister to the late William Norman Wray. A native of Montreal and resident of Oakville, Ann was educated at the Rhode Island School of Design, Sir George Williams, and Concordia University, where she received her M.Ed., while simultaneously raising five children. Ann's professional life was dedicated to helping people deal with serious illness, loss, and life changes, and characterized by a willingness to consistently align herself with practices slightly ahead of the curve. She worked alongside Dr. Balfour Mount at Montreal's Royal Victoria Hospital, where she helped establish a ground-breaking palliative care practice. She wrote academic papers about the need for new kinds of support services for breast cancer survivors. At Toronto's St. Michael's Hospital, Ann served as the founding manager of one of Canada's first breast cancer screening clinics. She acted in several capacities at Wellspring, an innovative cancer support centre for patients and families. In her private practice, Ann counselled individuals dealing with terminal and lifethreatening illnesses. A talented artist, Ann's drawings (often in charcoal) celebrated the beauty of everyday people, objects, and moments. In writing, she explored her love of language and demonstrated an unusual capacity to express difficult ideas and feelings in ways that could humble the most experienced author. Despite her considerable creative talents, and encouragement from friends and family, she never felt the need for external validation or to obtain the traditional markers of success. Ann's family wishes to thank her many friends and colleagues for their support and kind words during the past few months. Special thanks to Dr. Katherine Gray, Ann's Physician, for her generosity and expertise, as well as the staff and volunteers at Ian Anderson House, where Ann spent her last days. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to Wellspring (http://www.wellspring.ca) or Ian Anderson House (http://www.ianandersonhouse.com).
