Holiday trees to be lit Saturday by Julia Le Oakville Beaver Staff 13 | Thursday, November 19, 2015 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com DOWNTOWN OAKVILLE It may not look like Christmas yet, but it soon will with a number of treelighting ceremonies planned for this weekend. Tomorrow (Friday), Downtown Oakville will be lit up with its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. People are invited to gather around the 40-foot tree at Town Square from 6-9 p.m. A special guest appearance will be made by Santa Claus, followed by an evening of entertainment, carolling and treats. Saturday afternoon (Nov. 21), Bronte Village will get into the holiday spirit with its annual Tree Lighting and Carol Sing at Centriller Square on Lakeshore Road at Jones Street. Festivities are from 4-6:30 p.m. and feature holiday crafts, carols, dancing with Santa Claus and a photo booth. A performance by Tempus Choral Society will begin at about 5 p.m. Finally, on Saturday evening, from 5-8 p.m., people are invited to Kerr Village for its official launch of the holiday season at Heritage Square on Kerr Street. Now in its 21st year, the tree-lighting tradition features performances by Oakville Children's Choir, New Central Public School Choir, Plaid Apple, The Sheridan Chorus, Christina's Dance Arts, Stage It and Halton Jazz Singers. Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and an elf will also be dropping by.
